My Style Journey: How To Rock A Tutu Without Looking Like A Toddler

Blogger Maui of PHAT Girl Fresh Up until a couple years ago, most of us (ladies) wouldn’t have been caught dead wearing a tutu (tulle skirt). We thought they were kiddie and had no place in a grown woman’s wardrobe. However, a couple years ago, singer Kelis rocked one and plus size blogger Chasity Valentine of GarnerStyle recreated Kelis’s look and the rest is her story! The looks created by both these ladies started a tulle trend that is still in full affect years later.

Not since Madonna and Cindy Lauper’s emergence have so many females under the age 5 years old rocked tulle skirts. Then they were fun and funky but we all know that fashion evolves… And so it did! However, just like any fashion trend, the tulle skirt has made a comeback in a major way.

As with any other fashion trend, it is your job to add personal style and own it! There are so many ways to rock you tulle skirts without looking like a youngster. You can wear it with a bustier; serve up sexy, you can wear it with a Tshirt; to make it fun and funky or go chic with a crop top. The choice is totally up to you!

Recently I rocked my tulle skirt from Society+ and I must say, it is my favorite. The lining is nice and thick enough to avoid the skirt being see through but light enough to assure that the skirt is cool. I wanted to show you ladies how I styled my tulle skirts and got my grown woman on (at the same damn time).

Big & Bougie

Yes! To both of these, I am big and bougie (occasionally)! This is look was very fun and I rocked it while shopping with my daughter and hanging with my girls Marie of the Curvy Fashionista and Nikki of Nikki Free Style this past Saturday.   Blogger Maui of PHAT Girl Fresh  Deets
